The following tradesmen and suppliers have been recommended by one or more of our members. Please note that we have not verified any of these reports and they are listed here for information only.

Top tips:

– Avoid anyone who claims to be an ’emergency’ anything. This invariably translates to a higher charge and not necessarily a faster service. This is particularly true of plumbers/drain cleaners/boiler repairs.

– Avoid anyone quoting a ‘fixed price’ before they have seen the work required. They will either not do the job you actually want or they are likely overcharging you. One of the classic tricks is to quote a fixed price for a boiler/washing machine/fridge repair (which you pay in advance) then when they arrive, they fiddle around for a few minutes pretending to do something before telling you that the appliance is beyond repair and must be replaced. Needless to say, you don’t get any refund on the fixed price ‘repair’ fee you’ve already paid.
